Plans and Billing

Understand account plans and subscription management.

Sparky Cooks plans are account-level. All users on an account share the same account plan.

Extended Family$7.99$79.99Up to 10A larger household sharing one account and expanded allowance

Annual plans save approximately 16.5% compared with paying monthly for 12 months.

Every plan includes recipe creation and editing, search and organization, photos and manual photo tagging, grocery lists, public recipe sharing, cross-account folder sharing, bulk import, export and backup, Start Cooking, and access through the web, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV apps.

Paid plans add automatic photo tagging, recipe-aware and cross-library Cooking Assistant features, an ongoing Cooking Assistant allowance, and unlimited active Cooking Guides under normal use. Free accounts can keep up to three active Cooking Guides.

Family Plans and Sharing

Family and Extended Family plans allow multiple people to collaborate inside one Sparky account. Everyone in that account uses the same recipe library and shares the account's Cooking Assistant allowance.

This is separate from recipe and folder sharing. You do not need a Family plan to share a recipe or folder with someone in another Sparky account.

Apple Family Sharing is not used. Add family members to the Sparky account with the account's user invitations.

Manage a Subscription

The account owner manages the subscription for everyone on the account.

  • For a web subscription, open Account, find Subscription, and choose the plan or renewal action there. Stripe's Link service provides payment details, receipts, and payment support for live web purchases.
  • For an Apple-billed subscription, use the owner's Apple subscriptions. Sparky Cooks cannot change or cancel an Apple subscription on the web.
  • Other account members can view their account access but cannot change billing.

An account has only one active billing source at a time.

Eligible upgrades generally take effect immediately. Eligible downgrades and billing-schedule changes are scheduled for the next renewal. The app shows the effective date before you confirm the change.

Cancel or Restore Renewal

Canceling turns off automatic renewal. It does not immediately remove paid access or delete the account. Paid access continues through the end of the current paid billing period, and the Subscription section shows that date. The account then moves to Free.

For an active web subscription, the owner can restore automatic renewal from the same Subscription section before the paid period ends. Apple renewal changes are made through Apple.

Member Limits

The owner and active invitations count toward the plan's member limit. You cannot choose a smaller plan while the account has more occupied seats than that plan permits. Remove unneeded invitations or members first, or select a plan with enough seats.

If a billing-provider change later leaves the account over its member limit, Sparky Cooks preserves all recipes and account data, keeps the owner active, and suspends excess members. Those members can be restored when eligible seats become available again.

Failed Renewals and Refunds

Paid access may continue for up to 16 days while Apple or Stripe attempts to recover a failed renewal payment. Web subscribers can use Resolve payment in the Subscription section when it is shown. If recovery does not succeed, the account moves to Free when the grace period ends. This grace period does not apply to a voluntary cancellation.

Payments are generally nonrefundable, and Sparky Cooks does not provide prorated refunds or credits for unused subscription time except where required by law or permitted by the billing provider. Apple purchase refund requests must go to Apple. Web-purchase refund requests may be submitted through Link support.
