Import From a URL

Use the Cooking Assistant to import recipe text from a recipe URL where permitted.

The Cooking Assistant can import recipe text from a recipe URL when the source site allows automated access.

Import a URL

  1. Choose Create a Recipe from the sidebar, or open the assistant formatting action in the editor.
  2. Paste the recipe URL into the assistant input.
  3. Wait for the URL preview.
  4. Press Enter to submit.
  5. Review the formatted recipe result.
  6. Choose Compare if needed.
  7. Choose Accept to place the result in the editor.
  8. Choose Save or Save As and select the folder.

URL preview messages

Sparky Cooks checks the URL before import.

  • Ready to import means Sparky Cooks can attempt to extract recipe text.
  • Structured recipe data means the site provides recipe metadata that can make extraction cleaner.
  • Site blocks automated access means Sparky Cooks cannot import that page automatically.

Photos are not imported

Sparky Cooks does not import source-site images. Add your own photos from Photos after the recipe is created.

If a URL fails

Some sites block automated access or have terms that prevent importing. If a URL fails, copy and paste the recipe text manually if you have permission to use it, then use the Cooking Assistant to format the pasted text.
