Import a Grocery List
Paste grocery items or import a text or CSV file into a new or existing list.
Use Import List to bring an existing grocery list into Sparky Cooks without retyping every item.
You can start an import from the Grocery Lists screen or from an open list. An import started from an open list selects that list as the initial destination, but you can choose a different editable list before saving.
Paste a List
- Open Lists and choose Import List.
- Choose Paste on iPhone or iPad, or use the paste field on the web.
- Paste one grocery item per line.
- Review the detected items.
Common bullets, numbered-list prefixes, and checkbox markers are removed.
Checked markers such as [x], ☑, and ✅ keep the item checked in the
preview.
For example:
- Milk
- Eggs
[x] BreadImport a File
- Choose the file import option.
- Select a UTF-8
.txtor.csvfile no larger than 1 MB. - Review the detected items.
For a text file, put one item on each line.
A CSV file can use an item column named item, name, text, content,
product, or grocery item. Optional columns can describe:
- Quantity or amount.
- Unit.
- Category, section, or aisle.
- Notes or details.
- Checked, completed, done, or purchased status.
When a CSV has no recognized item header, Sparky Cooks uses the first populated cell in each row as the item text. Common Todoist CSV task exports are also recognized.
Review Before Saving
The preview is the final checkpoint before anything is added. You can:
- Edit item text.
- Change checked status.
- Edit available item details on iPhone and iPad.
- Remove items you do not want.
- Review Possible duplicate warnings.
Possible duplicates are not removed automatically. Sparky Cooks leaves the decision to you.
An import supports up to 500 items, with up to 300 characters in each item.
Choose the Destination
Choose New List to create a separate grocery list, or choose an existing list you can edit.
When a file is selected, Sparky Cooks suggests a new list name based on the filename. You can change that name before creating the list.
Choose Import Items, Create List, or Add Items, depending on the device and destination. Imported items are saved through the same grocery-list and offline-sync system as items entered manually.
When you are offline, an existing destination must already have been opened and saved on that device before items can be added to it.
