Create a Recipe
Create and save a recipe from the sidebar, editor, Cooking Assistant, templates, imports, or Files.
There are several ways to create a recipe in Sparky Cooks. Use the one that matches how you are starting.
From the Sidebar
Open the left sidebar from the dashboard.
Use:
- New Document to start with the standard recipe template.
- New from Template to create a recipe from a saved template in the Templates folder.
- Create a Recipe to open the editor and start the Cooking Assistant recipe flow.
After the editor opens, add or update the recipe content, then choose Save or Save As.
From the Cooking Assistant
Use the purple floating cooking assistant button in the lower-right corner.
Choose Create a Recipe in the Cooking Assistant dialog. This opens a new recipe in the editor and starts the recipe-formatting workflow.
From the Editor
The editor save bar includes:
- New to start a new recipe.
- Import to import a local file.
- assistant formatting to format or rewrite recipe content.
- Save to update the current recipe when you have edit access.
- Save As to create a new copy.
Use Save As when a recipe is read-only or when you want to create a separate version.
From a Local File
Choose Import from the editor save bar. Sparky Cooks can import supported text-style files such as Markdown or HTML and convert the content into editor blocks.
After import, review the content and save it as a Sparky Cooks recipe.
From the Cooking Assistant
Choose Create a Recipe from the sidebar or open the assistant formatting action in the editor.
You can:
- Paste recipe text.
- Paste a recipe URL where automated recipe extraction is permitted.
- Ask the assistant to format selected text or selected blocks.
- Compare the result before accepting it.
The assistant updates the editor only after you accept the result.
From Files
Go to Manage > Files, select the folder where the recipe should live, and choose the create-file action.
This creates a new recipe in the selected folder. The file name supports spaces and common recipe-name characters such as apostrophes, parentheses, ampersands, hyphens, and colons.
Choosing a Folder
When saving, choose a folder you are allowed to save to. The save dialog may suggest your default folder first. You can also browse all folders and create a new folder from the save explorer.
Regular users can save only to folders they own. Owners, admins, and super users have broader account access.
If you cannot save to a folder, you may not own that folder or have permission to create recipes there.
