Start Cooking on Apple TV

Connect Apple TV and use synchronized Cooking Sessions on the largest screen.

Sparky Cooks for Apple TV lets you browse recipes and follow Cooking Sessions from across the kitchen. Sessions can stay synchronized with the web, iPhone, and iPad.

Connect Apple TV

  1. Open Sparky Cooks on Apple TV.
  2. Note the connection code shown on the television.
  3. On a signed-in phone, tablet, or computer, open the Apple TV authorization page shown by the app.
  4. Enter the code and choose Connect Apple TV.
  5. Return to the television after approval.

Only approve a code visible on your own Apple TV. Sparky Cooks does not ask you to enter your account password on the television.

Start or Continue Cooking

From the recipe library, you can:

  • Open a saved recipe and choose Start Cooking.
  • Choose Cook From Scratch when you do not have a saved recipe.
  • Open Continue Cooking to join an active session from another device.
  • Turn on Keep Screen Awake when you want the recipe library to remain visible.

Inside a Cooking Session, Apple TV keeps the screen awake automatically. Use the Siri Remote to move through Plan, Gather, Prep, and Cook, check items, move between steps, open the full recipe, and control timers.

Cooking Notes and Questions

Choose Note This to open Cooking Notes. Focus the note field, use Apple TV system dictation or type, and submit the note. Completed dictation saves automatically. Notes synchronize with other participating devices.

Choose Ask a Cooking Question to dictate or type a question and see the answer on the television.

Timers

Apple TV shows the remaining time together with Pause or Resume, Add Minute, and Cancel. When time expires, Sparky Cooks displays a full-screen alarm with Stop and Add Minute. Keep the app open when relying on the television to sound the alarm.

Timer state synchronizes with the Cooking Session, while the Apple TV alarm is local to the television.

Finish and Review

Finishing a scratch session can create a recipe draft that you review, assign to a folder, and save on Apple TV.

For an existing recipe, Apple TV can display the proposed result. Leave the review with Done, then continue that review on the web, iPhone, or iPad to update the recipe, create a variation, or append a cooking note.
