Recipes

Understand recipe cards, recipe pages, editing, photos, and Save As.

Recipes are the main documents in Sparky Cooks. A recipe can include a title, description, ingredients, directions, notes, photos, comments, and tags.

Recipe Cards

Recipe cards appear on the dashboard. Use the sidebar, folder trees, search, tags, sorting, and All Files to find recipes.

Recipe cards may show whether a recipe is shared. Shared indicators can appear after the cards load because sharing metadata is loaded separately for dashboard performance.

Recipe Pages

Recipe pages are optimized for reading and cooking. They show the header photo, title, description, ingredients, directions, pictures, other content, notes, tags, and comments.

Click a recipe card to open the recipe page. Shared recipes open through the shared recipe route, while recipes in your account open through the account recipe route.

Editing

Users can edit recipes they own, recipes in folders they own, or recipes they are allowed to manage as an account owner, admin, or super user.

If you can view a recipe but cannot edit it, use Save As to save your own copy with your changes.

Photos

Upload photos in Manage > Photos, then attach them to recipes from the editor. The first image in a recipe is used as the recipe image on dashboard cards and recipe pages.

Sharing

Recipes can be shared in two ways:

  • Public links let anyone with the link view a read-only public recipe page.
  • Registered-user shares send an in-app share request to another Sparky Cooks user.

Public links are useful when the recipient does not need a Sparky Cooks account. Registered-user shares are useful when the recipe should appear in another user's dashboard and search results.

Comments and Tags

Anyone who can view a recipe can add comments. Read-only users can see tags but cannot edit tags.
