Recipe Photos
Learn how recipe photos and Photos work.
Photos are managed from Manage > Photos and can be attached to recipes in the editor.
Photos is separate from Files. Photos stores images. Files stores recipe documents and folders.
Upload Photos
Open Manage > Photos and upload the photo. Uploads support common web image formats. HEIC images may not be supported on every device, so export those photos as JPEG or PNG first if upload fails.
Uploads may allow cropping before the photo is saved.
Add a Photo to a Recipe
- Open the recipe in the editor.
- Add or select an image block.
- Choose the image action.
- Use Upload, Existing Assets, or Embed.
- Save the recipe.
Upload chooses an image from the current device. Existing Assets chooses a photo already stored in Sparky Cooks. Embed uses a direct image URL; the external host must continue making that URL available.
The same image menu is available when replacing an existing image. Replacing a photo keeps the image block's current display width and alignment.
The first image in the recipe is used as the main recipe image on dashboard cards and recipe pages.
Size and Alignment
Select an image in the editor to change its width or alignment. Images cannot be wider than the editor's document area.
Large device photos can be resized and encoded before upload so they remain within the service upload limits. Sparky Cooks keeps the original filename when the device provides it; the file format or extension can change when the image is processed on the device.
Thumbnails
Sparky Cooks uses optimized photo URLs and thumbnails where available so dashboards and recipe pages load faster.
Do not remove a photo from Photos if recipes still use it.
If a Photo Does Not Load
Refresh the page first. If the image still does not load, check whether the photo appears in Photos. If it is missing from Photos, upload it again or contact support.
