Recipe Pages

Learn how static recipe pages are laid out.

Recipe pages are designed for reading and cooking.

The page starts with the recipe header photo, then the title and description. Below that, Sparky Cooks lays out the cooking content in columns:

  • Ingredients.
  • Directions or instructions.
  • Pictures.

Other recipe content and notes appear below the main cooking layout.

Expected Recipe Sections

For the best layout, use clear headings such as:

  • Ingredients
  • Directions
  • Instructions
  • Notes

Sparky Cooks treats real headings differently from ordinary description text. For example, a sentence that mentions "ingredients" in the description should not become the ingredients section.

Actions on Recipe Pages

If you have edit access, the recipe page shows an edit option.

If the recipe is read-only, Sparky Cooks shows a read-only message. Use Save As from the editor if you want to save your own copy with changes.

Users who can view a recipe can add comments. Read-only users can see tags but cannot edit tags.

Shared Recipe Pages

Recipes shared with you are view-only. You can read them and add comments, but you cannot edit tags or change recipe content.

Public Recipe Pages

Recipes shared by public link open as read-only public recipe pages. Anyone with the link can view the recipe without signing in.

Public recipe pages do not allow editing, sharing, or comments. If the owner deletes the public link, the public page stops working.
